Hysterectomy Cost
Total cost is around $ 30K, but I am puzzled to see my insurance seems to pay my surgeon around $ 2K. The surgery was quite complex as I had ignored the issue for as long as I remember. It took him and his team about 6 hours to do the work cautiously - doubled than normal surgery. While the $ 30K seems reasonable, big chunk should go to the hand of those doing this skillful and wonderful work, our life depends on them !

I am pleased with my doctor- it’s the quote of 40,195.00 for a 2 hour day surgery with a one day private recovery room for removal of the uterus, tubes, ( ovaries will stay) I have Sedera coverage which hopefully will pay 10,500.00. According to medicalbluebook.com the laparoscopic vaginal hysterectomy should not exceed 12,500.00-15,000.00?? When I asked Baylor why I’m being charged so much or if I could get an average estimate they had no explanation and told me charges are because of “ multiple variables”? Well I think they should have a general idea of how much x 1 day in recovery, how many anesthesia units for 2 -3 hours of sedation and how much they rent out the day surgical table rate per hour to give patients and families a general price breakdown to plan for budgeting! Not just ask for my debit card and say oh your bill is 40,195.00.
